About Zell Lurie

Shaily Baranwal

Shaily Baranwal

Founder-CEO

Edblox

Shaily is the founder-CEO of Edblox, formerly Elevate Learning, with brands like Elevate K-12 and Classblox. Shaily was born and raised in Mumbai, India and started her first venture with a grant from the Zell Lurie Institute in the first few months of being in the US while at the Stephen Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. She boot-strapped the company to multi-million dollars in revenue before raising her first investment round. Elevate K-12 has grown to be one of the largest Human to Human online instruction service targeting the 54 million K-12 students in the US and has created teaching jobs online for over 3,000 US teachers since inception at the U of M.

Shaily is mission focused entrepreneur and is on path to build a global enterprise that will change teaching and learning for all learners. She was also a consultant with AT Kearney and the creator of India’s first live grill restaurant which she sold in 2015 to India’s largest f&B conglomerate, Dabur.

Her life goal has been to provide students with the best teaching resources irrespective of zip code and to give teachers in the US, especially women, an opportunity to teach without geographical boundaries. Her true passion lies in disrupting how people and consumers behave by creating products and services that challenge the status quo. She is a production engineer armed with a teaching degree and a MBA from the University of Michigan.
