University of Michigan’s Frankel Fund Leads Portfolio Company to Acquisition

January 14, 2013

The Frankel Commercialization Fund, in collaboration with the Zell Lurie Institute of Entrepreneurial Studies, today announced that Arbor Photonics, a portfolio company of the fund, has been acquired by nLIGHT Corp, a leading producer of high-performance lasers.

The Frankel Fund made its first ever investment in Arbor Photonics back in 2007, contributing $85,000 to the initial round of financing. As a result of the fund’s ongoing relationship with Arbor Photonics, students have not only had the opportunity to learn about technology commercialization integral to the investment evaluation process, but to observe and take part in the procedures involved in an acquisition.
