June 11, 2014

Organizers of the Michigan Private Equity Conference today unveiled initial plans for the ninth annual event which will be held Oct. 16-17, 2014 at the University of Michigan.  The ‘boutique’ Conference covers current and emerging topics in the nation’s credit markets that pose challenges and new opportunities for those in private equity and institutional investing. More than 200 private equity, investment banking and business professionals from around the United States and from the University of Michigan alumni community attend.

This year’s keynote speaker is T. Bondurant (Bon) French, the chief executive officer of Adams Street Partners, one of the largest managers of private equity for institutional investors, which manages more than $22 billion of committed capital. French actively participates as an investment professional and is responsible for managing relationships with several of Adams Street’s managers including Accel Partners, Austin Ventures, Madison Dearborn Partners and New Enterprise Associates. A recognized expert and pioneer in the field, French was a member of the CFA Institute Committee, which made recommendations concerning standards for reporting performance in private equity, and is also a contributor to the ICFA’s first book on the subject of private market investments, Investing in Venture Capital.

Pre-conference events held on Thursday, Oct. 16 include a golf outing at the University of Michigan golf course, the opportunity to go on the U-M football field and tour the locker rooms, and a dinner reception. The formal conference program will run from 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 17 at the Michigan Union.

In addition to the keynote address from French, the program will feature panel discussions led by some of the investment industry’s leading experts, as well as ample opportunities for networking among attendees. The Michigan Private Equity Conference is produced by the Zell Lurie Institute’s Center for Venture Capital & Private Equity Finance at the Ross School of Business. More details on speakers and topics will be released later this summer.  Online registration for the conference is open. For more information or to register, visit http://www.zli.bus.umich.edu/mpec/.
