Dave Hiemstra


An Entrepreneur-in-Residence and Lecturer in Entrepreneurial Studies at the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business.  Dave teaches the Entrepreneurship through Acquisition (ETA) course and leads the ETA Track in the Zell Entrepreneurs Program, mentoring students and alumni interested in acquiring, investing in, and operating lower middle market businesses.  

Dave is a Founder and Managing Partner of Penstock Equity, an investment fund focused on supporting independent sponsor-led acquisitions of established lower middle market businesses.  He is also the Founder of Quadec Private Capital, an independent sponsor focused on the lower middle market.  Previously, he was a partner at Strength Capital Partners and Peninsula Capital Partners, both of which are Midwest-based private capital investment firms.  He began his career in public accounting with PricewaterhouseCoopers in the middle market audit and transaction services groups.  Dave holds an MBA and BBA from Michigan’s Ross School of Business.
