David Burton – BBA ’25

David is a current junior studying finance at the Ross School of Business. During his time at Michigan, he founded Midwest Ventures Conference aimed at pairing the best Midwestern pre-seed and seed stage companies with capital to build upon the emerging startup ecosystem in the Midwest. The conference brought storied investors such as Bessemer Venture Partners, 1517, and Turner Novak helping companies to raise over $9.5 million over the conference’s two years of existence. David was also the VP of fund for UpRound Ventures where he led two investments into Michigan student-run companies on campus.

David currently writes about private scaling companies part-time for Contrary Research, the go-to spot for research and analysis of private tech companies. David will be entering his career as a software investor at Insight Partners, a growth equity firm with over $90B AUM. Insight Partners has led investments in Wiz, Checkout.com, and more.
